Not Going to MetLife?
Here's Where to Watch
the World Cup From Jersey City

Our MetLife Stadium guide covers game day for ticket holders. This one's for everyone else — the official fan zones, free watch parties, and the one PATH stop that puts you inside the action without a match ticket.

✦ ✦ ✦

"You don't need a ticket to MetLife to feel like you're at the World Cup. You just need to know where everyone else is already watching."

The knockout rounds are underway, the Final is set for July 19 at MetLife Stadium, and the entire New York–New Jersey region has turned into one long World Cup fan festival. Most of the coverage focuses on getting to a match. This guide covers the much larger group of people who aren't holding a ticket but still want to be somewhere that feels like the World Cup — and it turns out Jersey City is one of the best-positioned places in the region to do exactly that.

The single biggest reason: the official New Jersey Fan Hub isn't in Manhattan at all. It's in Harrison — one PATH stop from Journal Square.

Section 01

The Jersey Fan Hub — One PATH Stop Away

Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison — the New York Red Bulls' home ground — is hosting the official NYNJ World Cup 26 Jersey Fan Hub on select dates through July 15. It's built around a state-of-the-art 60-foot screen set up on the pitch itself, plus live entertainment, fan activations, and an indoor/outdoor club space for match days. Entry is general admission and now completely free, though event days require reserving a spot through SI Tickets in advance. A VIP watch-party option is also available if you want a private lounge with food and a dedicated bar instead of the general stadium floor.

Here's the part that matters most for anyone staying with us: Harrison PATH station is one direct stop from Journal Square, an 11-minute ride, and the stadium itself is a five-minute walk from the station. That makes it, hands down, the easiest official World Cup fan experience to reach from any StayJC property — closer and simpler than almost anything in Manhattan.

A few scheduling notes worth knowing before you plan around it: the Fan Hub is not open on July 5th or July 19th due to stadium conflicts, and match-day hours vary, so it's worth checking the current schedule before you head over.

Section 02

Rockefeller Center Fan Village

If you want the full Manhattan spectacle, the NYNJ World Cup 26 & Telemundo Fan Village transforms Rockefeller Center from July 6 through July 19. The Rink becomes a temporary soccer pitch for live match broadcasts, the Channel Gardens turn into a tribute to the eight nations that have won the World Cup, and the FIFA Museum sets up a free exhibition featuring items from every tournament since 1930 — including the Jules Rimet Trophy and jerseys from all 48 participating nations. Hours extend late during Finals Week, and the whole plaza has the kind of high-energy, world-famous backdrop that a stadium screen in New Jersey can't quite match.

From a StayJC property, the trip is straightforward: PATH into 33rd Street, then a short subway or 15-minute walk up to Rockefeller Center. Budget extra time on marquee match days — the crowds get large.

Section 03

Central Park & Times Square Watch Parties

For sheer scale, nothing beats the free watch party on Central Park's Great Lawn, which is expected to draw crowds as large as 50,000 for marquee matches — one of the biggest free World Cup gatherings anywhere in the world. Bring a blanket, get there early for a good spot, and expect the kind of communal energy that only a genuine mega-event produces.

Times Square has its own draw: the Marriott Marquis turns into an indoor watch hub for the tournament, with a massive screen, game-day drink specials, and fan programming spilling into the lobby. It's a good rain-day alternative to an outdoor fan zone, and it's walkable from the same PATH-to-33rd-Street route that gets you to Rockefeller Center.

Section 04

Watching It Local: India Square & Beyond

Not every match calls for a full expedition into Manhattan. Jersey City has one of the most genuinely international populations in the region, and it shows during a global tournament — restaurants and bars across Journal Square's India Square, Bergen-Lafayette, and the Heights fill up with local fans watching the same matches you'd catch at an official fan zone, minus the travel and the crowds. It's a lower-key way to experience the tournament, and often a better one if the match on your schedule doesn't happen to be a marquee fixture drawing 50,000 people to the Great Lawn.

If you're staying in a group, several StayJC properties have living rooms built for exactly this — large-screen TVs, comfortable seating for a crowd, and full kitchens if you'd rather cook than order in before kickoff.
